【Canton Fair Story】Yoon Chi Young: Canton Fair Allows More Korean Companies to Share China’s Development Opportunities
“Canton Fair enjoys a long history and extensive influence. It is a window for China’s opening up to the world, and has brought development opportunities for many Korean SMEs,” said Yoon Chi Young, General Manager of ES International Co., Ltd. at the 125th Canton Fair.
“I have formed ties with Canton Fair for 10 years. My company is dedicated to helping Korean companies attend exhibitions in China.”As an agency of the Korean Pavilion, Yoon’s company has provided service for about 100 Korean companies, whose business cover cosmetics, food, baby products, electrical appliances and other fields.
Since the set up of International Pavilion at 101st session in 2007, more than 13,000 companies from over 100 countries and regions have been attracted. In particular, companies from South Korea, Malaysia, Egypt, Turkey, Thailand and other countries and regions are long-term exhibitors. Through signing cooperation agreements and memoranda with the Canton Fair, Korean companies have opened up broader market space as they can seek cooperation opportunities globally.
“The Canton Fair brings together buyers and sellers from all over the world to discuss cooperation and development.” Yoon Chi Young believes that by aid of the Canton Fair, many Korean SMEs have concluded deals with global buyers, expanded their global circle of friends and shared China’s development opportunities. In addition to exhibitors, many Korean buyers are also interested in Chinese products. They make a special trip to the Canton Fair for sourcing.
It is learned that the total exhibition area of this session is 1.185 million square meters, and that the total number of stands is 60,651. Specifically, the total area of the International Pavilion is 20,000 square meters and the total number of stands is 1,000.
“It can be seen from the changes in the number of stands that in recent years, many companies show increased enthusiasm for participation and increased demand.” Yoon Chi Young hopes that in the future, the Canton Fair can expand exhibition areas, increase the number of stands, and allow the participation of more Korean companies for broadened international horizon.
The Canton Fair not only provides entrepreneurs with a business platform of “buying from and selling to the globe”, but also promotes cultural exchanges among different countries and regions. According to Yoon Chi Young, ES International Co., Ltd. will increase publicity efforts to attract more Korean companies to explore the Chinese market and promote economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
